Our Remote Laundries project has proven to be a simple, yet effective solution to reducing scabies infections in remote communities. This is critical in helping to eradicate the 100% preventable, rheumatic heart disease.
“So we know in the Australian context, common skin conditions such as school sores and scabies greatly increase the risk of rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease so having something like the AIG laundries helps people keep their clothes and their bedding clean, reducing the rates of Group A Strep and therefore a reduction in rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease,” Dr Ari Horton, Paediatric Cardiologist.
