Gunbalanya
The Gunbalanya laundry was opened in August 2024 in partnership with the Adjumarllarl Aboriginal Corporation.
The Gunbalanya Remote Laundries Project has been a success from the start. In the first two weeks, over 100 cycles were completed, four staff were employed and it ran at 100% operating capacity. It is clear the people of Gunbalanya value the laundry.
Employment is one of the key outcomes of each laundry and currently, Gunbalanya employs FOUR locals. Opportunities for meaningful and ongoing employment in Gunbalanya were few, so it was big news when jobs came up to work in the laundry.
It was a real privilege to join Adjumarllarl Aboriginal Corporation to host the inaugural 24-hour Wash-A-Thon, a festival of health, wellbeing and community spirit, a highlight, giving away over 50 mattresses with linen to households in need.
Last month, we were excited to launch our fifth Remote Laundry in the West Arnhem community of Gunbalanya in partnership with the Adjumarllarl Aboriginal Corporation.
